Can Anyone Answer a Question without Deferring

Some information was passed onto me by a contributor, questions they wanted answered so I sent them to the Corp of Engineers.

This message was sent from the Huntington District website. Message From: Clinton Haywood Email: theghostwriterofdc@gmail.com Response requested: Yes Message: During the process of the construction of the new school in Clintwood Virginia the citizens were informed that certain projects were supposed to be covered by the local money situation. We were informd that specifically items listed as "betterments" were supposed to be covered. Three specific costs that were mentioned were the artificial turf on the football field, the brick veneer on the field houses and the elaborate tilework at the entrance way. This comes into question because there is now a shortage of money to properly complete the new elementary project. Can you specifically tell me if there was anything the grant money was not suppose to be used for and if not exactly what the betterments are that is listed in the original agreement. Please do not forward this onto Mrs. Robinson, I am questioning her on the improper use of federal funds.

Of course this is the response I received back from the Corp.

Mr. Haywood, I believe that Mrs. Robinson is your best option for answering your questions. I have shared this request with her and she stands ready to address your concerns.

So apparently he struggled to read the do not forward this to Mrs. Robinson part of the email. Anyways I emailed him and our congressman demanding some answers.

I believe Mrs Robinson has skated around this issue with anyone who has ask her and this community needs answers. Originally we were allotted almost 40 million dollars for a new elementary school and it has now been cut down to around 20 million. I am not going to ask the person responsible for the oversight or lack of oversight. I am asking you directly if the county was authorized to purchase the turf for the field, the brick veneer for the field house and the elaborate tile work. If you say yes, then I will explore why. As the oversight body of this operation I am specifically asking you as a taxpayer about a serious misuse of funds. If you cannot answer the question I am going to step up my efforts and send it to Mr. Griffiths, our congressman for investigation. I am sure the many surrounding communities that struggle with building schools would love to have the money that was wasted on this project.

This is taxpayer money, Federal taxpayer money It was not paid for by the Dickenson County citizens, but by the United States citizens and all money should be accounted for.
