Looking Forward

Residents of Haysi be prepared! When the board meeting convenes the topic of discussion will be the consolidated elementary school and why it HAS to be at Ridgeview. You will hear all about how they cannot afford the three school solution and that it has to be done on the RIdge. Well this may be the case but everyone needs to understand that we have heard this same song and dance before. We cannot afford all of our high schools we have to consolidate, if we do not we cannot survive financially. We are in dire straits!

Let us all remember what happened in this situation, the schools budget was no lower from the last year that Haysi and Ervinton were open compared to the first year of Ridgeview. The budget was in such bad shape they added a chorus program, wrestling program, soccer program, hired multiple people. The following year the BOS expected a budget reduction from consolidation which did not happen so cuts had to be made.

In the end if this is truly a budget situation, that has to be done, how about we actually put honest people in positions to make it happen. At this point none of our representatives along with Mrs. Robinson cannot be trusted in this.
