Last nights BOS meeting the Mcclure Kiwanis asked for 12,000 dollars to keep the feeding america program running in Dickenson County. They were told that there were no funds available to keep the program running. They were told to grow a garden instead leaving many DD residents left to struggle to try to afford food after many of our board members had the big dinner up at richmond. I feel like even if the board could not afford 12,000 dollars to keep feeding america running they could make smaller donations to our food bank and try to help our citizens. Instead they want to raise our taxes through a solid waste tax. Please look into this to see if our county can afford to keep the feeding america program going kids will suffer if this cannot continue.
