Thoughts from this Week!

From the information that has been sent to me it has become increasingly clear that our counties education system needs revamped from the top down. From information that I have presented on this page a very clear picture of what has happened is laid out. In October of 2012 Mrs. Robinson received a memo from the state department of education detailing how and when she WOULD be evaluated, she chose to ignore this order from the state. This alone is concerning, but on top of this, once the school board was questioned about this matter, Mr. Rocky Barton, the chairman of the board commented that Mrs. Robinson had not been evaluated in at least 4 years. Why? This should have been enough concern for the board to hold off on a new contract for Mrs. Robinson, but sadly they pressed forward. In the same meeting this board offered the non-evaluated superintendent a new contract. This is not only irresponsible but potentially illegal, and needs to be investigated sooner rather than later.

These people are in charge of our most important resource, our children! What does their actions tell the students in their system? Rules are not meant to be followed? How can we teach these children about the fair and just democratic system we live in but have those in charge of teaching this break the rules. I have published a lot and been questioned by many, but not one person has said any of this information about the board or the superintendent is incorrect. I am open to change any of it if I am wrong, but if not change needs to happen in the school system immediately.

I hate to break it to Mrs. Robinson but the second she told her staff she cared about them then increased her benefits and then cut theirs and even laid some of them off, she lost any respect she may have had. You cannot run a school system that is based solely on fear, you must have respect and right now that does not exist.

I have been told "you present problems but not solutions". Since this is a thoughts page I will give my thoughts on a solution to the problem. Rocky Barton clearly violated his obligation to ensure state guidelines are followed and needs to answer for this. He clearly knew the board had not evaluated Mrs. Robinson and did not hesitate in giving her a new contract. He needs to be put up for recall and be forced to answer the question of why he acted the way he did. Recall election only requires 10% of those that voted in the last election to sign a petition, I think this would only require between 60 and 70 signatures to be taken in front of a judge. This needs to happen now! Once this happens and a new impartial member of the public is elected to the board, the contracts legality can be brought into question.

Or how about this, both of these two decide that what they did was not in the best interest of the county and step aside and let this problem go away.
